It is so fun to share these traditions with our boys now! Todd started taking Jaden down to Alki to see the pirates when he was 2 1/2, he rode Jaden down to Alki in the bike and I drove down to meet them (as I was pregnant with B at the time). He discovered that those pesky pirates do a pre-funk at a restaurant/bar;) before the big landing. We were determined to skip the large Alki crowd and just do the pre-funk pirate stuff this year as we had a Sounder's game to attend that afternoon. The Boyer's met us and we had a great time swashbuckling with the Pirates:)
Just for fun a couple pic's of past years. J in 2006 at 2 1/2 (the same age B is now)
J in 2007
B in 2007 at 9 months old, he wanted that shiny gun!
Last year we didn't see them as we were visiting Thomas.

J was excited to get to hold
Next we went down to Seacrest park (right across from Todd's work) to throw rocks and wait for the pirate's.
My coordinated boy decided to balance on a log.
Bryson wanted to do it too, so Daddy helped him:)
We heard the loud siren and sure enough the pirate's were coming! (Todd's office is in the back behind the pirate ship).
Photo-op time!
"Guess which hand?"
I'm fairly certain that I am not damaging my 2 year old by having him pose with a mean-looking pirate, although B may disagree;)
Arggh me matey and me with a peg-leg.
The pirate's then boarde their ship for the Alki landing, until next year!
Todd and I took the boys home and the grandparents came over to watch them so that we could go see the Sounders game and have a nice date afternoon/night for our Anniversary! It was super hot so we decided to forgo our seats and found some in the shade!
Then we walked along the waterfront and had some dinner.
Afterwards we strolled around downtown and decided to head to the Olympic Sculpture Park since we had time before our movie at The Big Picture Show. The sky was so beautiful and it was unbelievable how warm it was even at 7 pm (quite unusual for Seattle).
