June 12th. . .

. . . has always been an important day to me as it was the day of my birth 31 years ago. . . This year it also happened to be Jaden's last day of preschool EVER! My baby is growing up and will start kindergarten in the fall (albeit with the same teacher). I seriously cannot believe that Jaden is now 5 1/2 --his 1/2 birthday is also June 12th!

A few things about Jaden from this school year:
Jaden started out the school year going 5 half days a week since he was still napping daily, in December he started going full days on Mondays and Fridays and eventually we added on Tuesdays to that as well. In January he pretty much ceased taking naps, but still will nap occasionally if he doesn't get enough sleep the night before. At the beginning of this school year Jaden was really into using the lightbox and creating "Parts of" (horse, fish, frog, tree, leaf, etc.). I was fortunate enough to volunteer in his classroom by being a reader parent once a week, and saw all of the children improve with their sounds and/or reading over the school year. At the beginning of the year Jaden knew some but not all of his sounds, but by November he started reading 3-letter phonetic books (Bob books) and in January started on his 1st workbook (a very big deal)! I was also the room parent for his class this year which meant that I helped out with classroom parties, teacher gifts, and calling for school closures (which happened a lot in December with all the snow we had). Towards the end of the year Jaden really enjoyed making maps and he created the globe, Australia, and South America maps which are all proudly displayed in his bedroom:)

Jaden played fall in the soccer, we took him skiing a handful of times this winter and he played spring t-ball. At home he loves playing with his army men, Playmobil, Legos, and cars most of all. His favorite thing this year was the creation of movie night! On Friday nights we would rent a family movie, get some treats and cuddle up on the couch together (mostly after Bryson went to bed but he occasionally joined in later in the year). Jaden and Kailee once again enjoyed playing with eachother this year and created elaborate scenarios and set-ups for their toys (mostly Playmobil), but there was also a definite difference this year (unlike past years) that Kailee requested and wanted to play more "girl-type" games and Jaden wanted the more "boy" games. They always worked it out though and continue to be great buddies! He got his first hand-held video game system for his 5th birthday this year (Leapster) and our family got the wii. He became very good at both but doesn't play either very much.

Jaden delites in making people laugh, is a great big-brother (most of the time;), good helper, and is a wonderful, sometimes sensitive little boy who is growing up too fast for his mama (as tears roll down my cheeks).

Here are a few pictures of Jaden's last day of preschool. Next year the school is moving so he will have a brand-new classroom!
His classmates Maria and Noa (who he has known since they were both infants in waterbabies at the Y)
My handsome boy:)
During nap time I finally planted seeds in my planter that my dad and I built a few weeks before. I also installed the fence to keep out the neighborhood bunnies and racoons and any other critters trying to get my vegetables! I planted corn, beans, zuchinni, lettuce, carrots and tomatoes.

Todd made reservations at Benihanas for my birthday dinner and we decided to take the water taxi downtown to get there.
Bryson cheesing and waiting for the water taxi to arrive.
Jaden has such sensitive eyes (yet doesn't usually want to wear sunglasses) that even in the shade he's squinting.

Too cool!

Love this patriotic one of Todd and Bryson.
In front of Beni's!
Jaden and Bryson loved the chopsticks, umbrella and hat.

Our chef

The food was fantastic and we ate a lot!
. . . that we were too full to eat most of our pineapple boats so we took them to go.
After dinner we walked over to Pacific Place and checked out the new Sounders/Seahawks store, went through Nordstrom and then back to the waterfront for the water taxi. Jaden and I had fun posing on the water taxi on the way back (I need to photoshop dude out of there though;)
What a great day! And now both of my boys are home with me everyday (for the summer at least), woohoo!
