Lake House and Camping trips Week 1
We went to the lake house for 2 weeks in mid-August, we knew we wanted to go camping and also visit the Olympic Peninsula but we didn't plan exactly when we would do those side trips. The first 2 days the weather was overcast and not very warm, which seemed so far to be the theme of summer 2010. We took the boys on some bike rides and went down to the LLCC to let them swing and play.

On Wednesday, August 11th it was supposed to warm up a lot, like in the upper 80's-90's:) So we packed our camping gear up and headed to the awesome campsite we found during our 4th of July trip up to Olympic National Park. Unfortunately, the campsite we really wanted was taken, but the one across the road from it was free! It was still a great spot, right on the river and only $10 a night! Here is a picture from the road looking down on our campsite.
After setting up camp, the boys were quick to jump in the river, which was pretty shallow all-over (maybe more of a stream than a river). It was chilly though, but the outside temperature helped! Bryson preferred to wear a wetsuit though.
Jaden on the other side of the river/stream.

Todd pumped up the fun island and threw it down from the bridge to the boys.
We took it upstream to try floating on it.

Todd and the boys on our beach right in front of our campsite.
Here's a picture upstream at the campsite we originally wanted, it has deeper areas that you can swim in. I think we actually ended up liking our campsite better.

This is the life!
Lunch time, instant noodles, yum!
Jaden tried a little fly fishing on this trip for the first time.
Evening campfire time. . .
and, of course, the glowsticks come out!
This will probably embarass the boys someday but it was too funny! Jaden was down standing on that log facing the water, relieving himself;) Bryson notices, while sitting next to us by the fire, jumps up and says, "I'm gonna slap that little booty!" He runs down and gives J a smack on the behind and then runs back. Here's the picture of him running back! Todd and I couldn't stop laughing, we have no idea where he came up with the idea! By the way, Jaden was not mad he thought it was funny too!

While exploring the river the next day I saw a watersnake, kind of freaked me out!

We all had so much fun on the river, playing and exploring!
Bryson getting ready for campfire time, snuggling his cozy:)

Wrestling time in the tent!

Our humongous tent barely fit between trees and stumps!

Jaden getting ready to roast some marshmallows.
Todd making some Jiffy Pop over the fire.

A picture of our campsite from the river looking towards it.
We were surrounded by beautiful scenery all around and no super close neighbors, it was truly beautiful!
The boys fishing. Todd tied a huge purple worm (an old lure) to the end of the string of an old pole for Bryson. He was so happy with it and kept trying to catch some fish!
Jaden fly-fishing.
We took a walk down to the campground to check it out. The boys had fun exploring this old waterpump.

Bryson, of course, was "tired of walking" on the way back so he needed a lift from Daddy. I love this picture of the two of them.
We spent two nights camping and then returned on Friday for some record-breaking temperatures at the lake. It was HOT, in the upper 90's! The boys wasted no time getting back in the water!

Bryson finally started to enjoy the fun island.

Todd and Bryson took Jaden and I on a slow cruise around the lake on this air mattress. I just held onto the rope and Todd pulled us with the boat. It was nice having a chance to talk with my Jaden:)
Bryson actually ended up falling asleep on the boat under the steering wheel.
That evening after showering, we went to the LLCC for dinner. Here's Bryson looking cool on the boat on our way there.
The boys in front of the Country Club.

The dinner was delicious! We had no idea their food was so good, we vowed to return and we did several times! We took a few pictures after dinner.

Todd and Jaden on the LLCC dock heading back to the boat.
Bryson running to catch up!
Saturday was just as hot, so back to the beach again!

The boys and I swimming to cool off.
Bryson actually braved it and went down the slide on the fun island!

My tired little boy who can sleep almost anywhere. While Bryson was inside napping, Jaden had a nap on the beach.

Todd and Bryson had a squirt gun fight in the water.
Bryson blasted Todd in the face!
Back at the LLCC for dinner, it had AC and the food was too tasty (and inexpensive) to pass up!

Jaden tried out some inner-tubing on a warm day.

Paddle-boating fun.

A super hero that the boys got from McDonald's came along on a paddle boat trip I took them on one evening.
My handsome boys.

We went in search of frogs, but didn't find any.

Jaden's moves on the dock!

It was so nice to have so many warm summer days so that the boys could play in the water, they had a blast!

I finally got out the pirate ship and blew it back up again. Unfortunately, it has a slow leak, but it worked for awhile.

Todd and Jaden fishing from the paddle boat. Jaden really got into fishing this summer and constantly asked Todd if they could fish.
That is the end of week 1. . .
